About Sara
I hold an MPhil in Classics from Trinity College. I have over 7 years of Latin reading experience. I have a year of experience organizing and leading tutoring sessions for beginner and intermediate Latin students at the undergraduate level, as well as two years of private tutoring students in preparation for writing the GCSE exam. I am currently pursuing an MA in Translation Studies with a focus on French, complementing my year of experience tutoring French to students at various levels. This background allows me to provide tailored lessons that develop both written and spoken language skills, enhancing overall fluency and exam readiness.

As a Latin tutor, I bring a strong academic background and a genuine passion for the Latin language and its rich cultural context. With an honours BA in Classics from McGill University and an MPhil in Classics from Trinity College Dublin, I have an appreciation for the intricacies of Latin grammar and syntax, as well as for its historical significance and literary value. During our 1-2 hour sessions, the first half is dedicated to fundamental aspects such as grammar points, morphology quizzes, and expanding vocabulary. This segment lays a robust foundation, essential for tackling the intricacies of the Latin language. The second half of the session is an engaging exploration into the practical application of learned concepts. We delve into guided translations of both set and unseen texts, providing students with an opportunity to apply the grammar points covered earlier. This hands-on approach not only reinforces their understanding but also builds the confidence needed to navigate unseen Latin texts independently. The lessons are aimed to align with GCSE, Leaving Certificate, and A Level specifications, with a focus intensifying as the exam date approaches. This approach ensures that students are well-prepared for the specific requirements of their examinations, covering essential content and refining their skills to excel in the assessments. In addition to Latin, I also offer lessons in oral French tailored to prepare students for the GCSE, Leaving Certificate, or any other level of proficiency. With a focus on developing speaking and listening skills, these sessions are designed to build confidence in conversational French and to refine pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension. Whether the aim is to excel in exams or to simply enhance everyday communication skills, my lessons provide a supportive and interactive environment where students can practice speaking in real-world scenarios, broaden their vocabulary, and deepen their understanding of French culture and language nuances.

Perfect! Sara is is an excellent Latin and French tutor. She combines phenomenal subject matter expertise with a highly engaging teaching style. I'd highly recommend her.
Perfect! Sara is a brilliant tutor, she is really good at explaining things that my son struggled to understand in the past and he left each session feeling a lot more confident about his level of Latin and ability to translate. She helped him get a lot more comfortable with Leaving certificate exam structure and took away his anxieties for the exam, with a competency level that she could answer any specific questions and could help him in areas he has been struggling (mainly verb forms and dependent clauses)
