About Lara
I was raised in a bilingual home speaking Spanish and English with my family. Throughout my childhood and early adulthood, I also learned German, Swedish, and Norwegian to an intermediate/advanced level, so I am well acquainted with the hardships of learning a new language and the oh-so-tiresome problems that come with it, such as 'I cannot seem to get the accent completely right' and 'This grammar is confusing!'. But worry not, I assure you you will be in good hands.
I have an MA from the University of Aberdeen in Celtic and Anglo-Saxon Studies and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic. Currently, I am reading for my PhD, also at Cambridge. My background is, therefore, in medieval language and literature, mainly Old English, Old Norse, Middle Welsh, and Latin. Learning about these dead languages, the ancestors to our Modern languages (English, Norwegian, Spanish etc) have helped me better understand the 'rules of our modern grammar, the weird sounds of each language, the strange sayings that make no sense if you try to translate them into a different language. Linguistics and Philology are the key to speaking perfect modern languages.

I adapt my lessons to your own needs. I have taught students of all ages, from 6-year-olds to 40-year-olds coming from Russia to Norway to Spain. Every person has a different reason for learning a language as well as a unique way of learning, so my teaching style will vary depending on your needs. Be it oral conversation or writing (or even Spanish and English Literature if you feel up for it!), there is no challenge that we shan't overcome to get your language skills shipshape.
Lessons are usually 30 minutes for the young learners and up to an hour for teenagers and young adults, but let me know what suits you best.
