About Jan
I've been learning foreign languages since my childhood. My strength particularly lies in English as I have, for some time, lived in multiple English-speaking countries. I have a bilingual German high school diploma - that means I specialized in English and history taught in English. During my studies at university I was teaching English at a high school in Indonesia.
Other languages I speak: French, Russian, Indonesian, Korean & Turkish
Since 2015 I teach German online and have completed 700+ lessons. In my lesson, I always refer to the student's previous experiences and his / her individual preferences. That means, I teach German based on the student instead of a common standard.

I am convinced that learning should be fun. That's why I teach German via the so-called Birkenbihl-approach. I let you decide what and how you want to learn. Specifically, you choose the topic and the material (song lyrics, books, movies... anything you LIKE). I don't use textbooks because they do not, for the most part, contain topics that are of interest to ALL learners - only to some. Language learning happens when you are completely absorbed by talking and writing about your passions. That means: you learn without studying.
We will together translate all German materials word by word into English. In this way, you will learn how the German language works. You will learn how a native German thinks. You will learn to directly translate from English into German without having to think much. In short, you will learn German based on English.
I teach everyone who would like to learn German AND have fun learning it. Every lesson is tailored to you - because YOU decide what YOU want to learn.
