About Tom
From the first time I stepped into a lecture hall, I have been passionate about teaching. It is something that I truly enjoy, and feedback from students in yearly reviews attests to this. There is a temptation, which some academics fall into, to overcomplicate teaching. I have the opposite approach, and offer simplistic, strategy-driven methods of achieving first class results. It is through this that I have been able to achieve my goal of supporting young people to flourish with academia. Having coached around 100 students through private tuition, the vast majority have achieved first class results, with many achieving marks over 80.

In my 5 years of tutoring, I have coached around 100 students to first class results. During this period, I have also taught 240 students in International Relations, Politics, and Political Philosophy at Durham University; as well as 3 classes at LSE. I am currently in the process of completing my PhD at Durham University. I have taught and continue to offer lessons to Master's students, Undergraduate students, and A level students. I offer bespoke tutoring services, including, but not limited to: - Indicative marking - Line-by-line feedback - Proofreading - 1-1 Zoom lessons (content) - 1-1 Zoom lessons (style and technique) Here is a review from one of my students: "As someone whose university experience has been disrupted by remote studying and repeated strikes, I found Tom’s help with my dissertation project extremely useful.
