About Kayleigh
As a playwright, my plays have been performed across the South West, in London and beyond at venues such as The Curve, Exeter Phoenix, The Other Palace, Omnibus Theatre and Theatre503. My work has been longlisted for The Women’s Prize for Playwriting and The Peter Shaffer Postgraduate Award for Playwriting as well as shortlisted for The Bread & Roses Playwriting Award and The Ilfeld Prize. Currently, I’m a Mentored Writer with Paines Plough, working on my latest full-length play — an extract of which was recently showcased at the Belgrade Theatre. I’m also a private tutor with over 5 years experience teaching the KS3 and GCSE English curriculum across all exam boards and set texts. This means I have a full Enhanced DBS check and a wide range of plays (especially Shakespeare!) in my head at any given time!

Our sessions can focus on any aspect of playwriting from character to dialogue to plot and structure. We can work on writing scenes together, read extracts of existing plays for inspiration and even develop your own short play or full-length draft over a block of sessions. I keep sessions fun and conversational, encouraging learning through discussion and experimentation. As a professional playwright and a private tutor for KS3 & GCSE English Language and Literature, teaching playwriting for young people is the perfect intersection. Whether you're submitting for a Young Playwrights award or simply exploring playwriting as a fun and creative way of expressing yourself, I can help take your play to the next level!
