About Ethan
I am currently an undergraduate classical, jazz and pop pianist studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Before coming to the RNCM, I studied at the City of Edinburgh Music School where I graduated with an ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance (DipABRSM), a Trinity College London Diploma in Music Theory (AMusTCL), as well as with qualifications in General Musicianship and Jazz Theory. I have performed in venues and at festivals across the UK, including in performance at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and at the London Jazz and Blues Festival. I am also an accompanist for the British Ballet Organisation and regularly accompany other musicians in exams and performances. While I am classically trained, I also regularly perform in jazz and pop ensembles and love playing a variety of musical genres!

I have been teaching classical, jazz and pop piano privately throughout my studies at the RNCM. I am happy to tutor students of all ages and abilities and can tailor lessons to suit each student's goals and aspirations. I can also support students through official exam pathways, such as ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool Grades. I always ensure my lessons are fun and engaging with valuable teaching points and work on both technique and musicality in every lesson. I have been a member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) since September 2019.
I am passionate about music and ensuring that everyone has access to it and enjoy sharing my knowledge and love of all kinds of music with students!

Not only is Ethan an extremely talented and accomplished performer, but he is also one of the friendliest, calmest, and most patient people I have had the pleasure of working alongside. As well as his passion and enthusiasm for all kinds of music, Ethan's astute ear, vast knowledge of harmony and counterpoint, wide array of listening, innate musicality, and high level of technical proficiency on the piano makes him an ideal teacher for both classical and jazz repertoire. Fascinating and encouraging, Ethan would make an ideal tutor for all ages/stages, and I would strongly recommend learning from him.
