About Kate
I have over 8 years of experience teaching piano to college students and enjoy helping learners grow with confidence and creativity. My teaching style is student-centred and flexible, allowing me to adjust lessons based on each student’s goals, strengths, and learning pace.
I focus on building a strong foundation in piano technique, sight-reading, rhythm, and music theory while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. I use innovative methods such as improvisation exercises, composition projects, and blending classical pieces with modern music to make learning exciting.
I also help students build performance confidence and expressive skills so they can connect emotionally with the music they play. My goal is to create a supportive and motivating learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity, improve steadily, and develop a lifelong love for piano and music.

My piano teaching methodology focuses on creativity, guidance, and steady progress. I aim to mentor students while helping them grow into independent and confident musicians.
Creativity is central to my lessons. Students explore songs they love, try simple improvisation, and participate in creative exercises. This makes learning engaging and fun.
As a critical thinker, I guide students to understand rhythm, chords, scales, hand coordination, and musical expression. Complex ideas are broken into simple steps so students can improve effectively.
Accountability is emphasised through goal setting, structured practice plans, and progress tracking. This helps students stay disciplined, motivated, and responsible for their learning.
In addition to piano, I teach music theory, sight reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, keyboard basics, and simple composition to support overall musical skills.
