About Suzanne
With 30 years' experience of teaching piano and music theory and a degree in Music from Durham University I have taught hundreds of students to play the piano and to read music. Whilst studying for my degree I was awarded the prestigious organ scholarship at Durham Cathedral, an award that was given to me three years running. I have extensive experience as a performer on both the organ and the piano. I teach adults and children and students can decide whether they wish to take exams. My students have had great success in exams and this has helped them go on to top universities once they've reached the later grades. Student ages have ranged from 3-90 years old and I believe that, with a positive approach, anyone can learn to play. Over the years I've taught in both primary and grammar schools, state and public in London. I've also taught at busy music schools, all the while maintaining my private practice, also in London. Currently I'm teaching privately.

My approach is friendly, the education is rigorous and tailored exactly to the individual student. At the beginning of each lesson I meet the student where they've got to musically, asking what the student has been playing. Often lessons begin and end with student choice of piece, especially when in the earlier stages. Then in between we'll look at new pieces, learn some new musical ideas and, if relevant, look at some theory. But most of all the lesson fits where you have reached.
