About Barney
I am a piano teacher based in Leeds with ten years of teaching experience. I first came to Leeds to study classical music at the college and, after completing my degree, went on to study for a masters in music composition. My main area of expertise is in classical music but I also play and teach various world folk styles on the accordion.
Many of my students choose to go through the graded exam route and they have a one-hundred percent pass rate!

I teach all ages and abilities from beginner to the higher grades and can tailor my lessons to fit my students specific needs.
As well as encouraging learning to read music I also think it's important for pianists to learn to improvise and play by ear if they feel comfortable doing so. I believe these skills are often undervalued in classical tuition.
