About Delilah
I developed a love for the piano early, drawn to its expressive and emotional possibilities. This passion led me to pursue a B.A. in Music Performance, where I honed my technical skills, interpretive abilities, and performance expertise. Over 10 years of teaching, I have worked with learners of all ages and levels, helping them build foundational skills, artistic confidence, and a personal connection to music. My teaching style combines structure, patience, and encouragement, ensuring each student feels supported and motivated throughout their journey. I emphasise understanding why musical and technical decisions matter, enabling students to approach practice with insight and independence. Lessons combine demonstration, guided practice, and creative exploration to suit different learning styles. By celebrating progress and encouraging expressive experimentation, I help learners gain both technical mastery and artistic confidence. My approach is designed to foster joy, curiosity, and a deep sense of personal achievement. Outside teaching, I remain active in performance, composition, and musical study, constantly seeking new ideas and repertoire. This keeps lessons fresh and engaging, providing students with practical insight and inspiration. Teaching piano is deeply rewarding because I witness learners grow in skill, artistry, and self-confidence, developing both a technical foundation and a lifelong love of music.

Piano lessons start by establishing proper posture, hand technique, and an understanding of musical fundamentals. Beginners focus on note reading, rhythm, simple melodies, and hand coordination. I emphasise a patient and structured approach that encourages steady progress while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. Students are guided through exercises that build strength, accuracy, and musical awareness, helping them develop confidence and a sense of accomplishment early on. Lessons are designed to instil both technical skill and a love for music, fostering a balanced and motivating learning experience. Intermediate students refine their technique, focusing on expressive phrasing, dynamic control, and repertoire development. They strengthen hand independence, explore varied musical styles, and learn to convey emotion through performance. Advanced learners work on complex technical passages, interpretive depth, performance preparation, and nuanced musical expression. Each lesson combines technical exercises, repertoire work, and creative exploration to help students develop a complete understanding of piano performance, while building confidence in both practice and public presentation. Beyond technical mastery, piano lessons encourage creativity, discipline, and personal expression. Students discover how music can communicate emotion and enrich daily life, developing patience, focus, and self-confidence along the way. By connecting technical skill with interpretive artistry, learners cultivate both personal voice and expressive freedom. My goal is to help students feel empowered and inspired to enjoy music, whether performing for themselves, sharing with others, or preparing for formal presentations. Lessons are structured to foster growth, satisfaction, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
