About Angela
Angela is a classically trained pianist, who began playing at the age of 5. As a child, she worked through grades 1-8, in addition to the relevant theory exams, and frequently played at church on a Sunday morning. After a few years break from playing due to other study and family commitments, she has resumed her own piano study, currently working towards her performance diploma and grade 6 theory, in addition to the qualifications she already holds.
Angela has a dear place in her heart for teaching children, especially beginners, and loves seeing musical concepts ‘click’ in her student’s minds. She has previously worked in childcare, kids church and youth groups, and holds a current QLD paid blue card for working with children. As a mum herself now, she understands the importance of connecting with every child and engaging them at an age-appropriate level.
Angela adores making music fun for each of her students, and will work with them to find pieces that they enjoy playing; both primarily for pleasure, or for exam purposes. Having worked for a piano school previously, she has prepared students for both their theory and practical examinations with the AMEB (although she is quite well versed in other exams boards, having a current preference for using ABRSM)
Although it is not her favourite way to teach, in the interest of making lessons more accessible and regular due to the current covid situation, Angela now only teaches her lessons online. She does this through an accessible moodle portal, where she can upload music, administration letters and lesson notes, in addition to being able to conduct live-stream lessons with her students.

Piano lessons with Angela are generally conducted on a weekly basis, and include a mixture of piano practical and theory work. The aim of making music enjoyable and relevant to each and every student is at the forefront of her teaching method. Students are welcome to work towards exams or to simply pursue learning for their own enjoyment.
Lessons are conducted on a term by term basis, as children seem to genuinely benefit from taking a break from learning over the holidays to rest and rejuvenate.
Lessons with Angela are currently conducted via live stream, where each student/parent will receive an individual login upon enrolling. From here, they can access (via a moodle portal) uploaded music and documents, join the live stream at their individual lesson time each week, and upload theory or other documents to be marked/shared etc.

Details
A free 30 minute trial lesson is offered for every new student.
Thereafter, lessons are charged at the rate of $30 per 30 minute lesson, $45 per 45 minute lesson and $60 per 60 minute lesson.
Although this may seem expensive, this price helps to pay not only for the lesson time, but also the time spent preparing each lesson, purchasing materials, marking theory work, hosting the website, purchasing indemnity insurance and contributing to superannuation, to name a few.
