About Negar
I am Nara Soley, a composer, pianist, and vocalist with over 12 years of piano experience. I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I studied composition and experimental music. I have developed my practice in composition, performance, improvisation, classical, and electronic music and I am passionate about combining these practices at times into an integrated, interdisciplinary approach. I
I am passionate about helping students develop strong technical skills while discovering their own musical voice. Each lesson is tailored to your goals, level, and interests.

A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson is flexible and adapted to the student, but often includes:
A short warm-up or technical exercise (for pianists)
Review of previous material or pieces
Introduction of a new concept (technical, theoretical, or creative)
Guided practice, improvisation, or composition work
Reflection and setting goals for the next session
For composition lessons, we may focus more on listening, discussing ideas, and developing ongoing projects.
What Sets Me Apart
My background as both a composer and performer allows me to connect technique with artistic intention. I emphasize creativity from the beginning, even for beginners, so students don’t feel limited by rigid structures.
I also bring experience in interdisciplinary and experimental music, which allows students to explore beyond traditional approaches if they are interested. At the same time, I provide strong technical grounding for those pursuing formal training.
I am attentive to each student’s individuality and adapt my teaching to their pace, interests, and learning style.
