I find that most students struggle with math because they aren't really taught how math works. Many lessons focus on memorizing equations and identifying when to apply them, students are generally far more successful when they learn how problems are solved and why the equations work the way they do. Math is one of the most simple and common sense subjects there is when it doesn't rely on rote memorization.
