About Michael
I'm a photographer from North Wales and have been taking pictures (on purpose, at least) for 16 years. I teach Photography, Design and Publishing at a college in Manchester, England. I also produce zines, books and prints of my own work and others as a part of 0.08 Imprints.

About the lesson

For beginner students getting used to the camera and basic compositional techniques will be the focus before moving onto a longer term project. For more intermediate students, we will launch a project right away.
Students will produce a series' of work focused around a chosen theme that is specific enough to give the project a sense of direction but broad enough to allow for experimentation and exploration.
Learners are expected to be taking photographs each week for us to review together and discuss technical and conceptual improvements moving forward.
The objective of our sessions will be to create and curate a series of considered, insightful images that could be presented as a photobook or utilised as part of an exhibition or portfolio.
My lessons typically 1 to 2 hours and are for anyone aged 16+ and generally will take place remotely, though arrangements can be made for in person sessions. I am formally qualified, having graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a Photography BA in 2012 as well as having completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Further Education in 2019. For the last three years I have been teaching Photography, Design and Publishing at a college in Manchester, England.
