About Alaina
I had the privilege of writing lesson plans and teaching them to a homeschool family (taught for one year). Each student had a radically different personality, but my approach worked well because I wrote my lesson plans with the intent of helping that unique student grow—not their peers or my ego. Students are always my focus. I teach piano to students ages 6-62, which has given me further experience in understanding how to approach people (yes, it’s a different subject, but the principle applies!). I also have extensive customer service experience (3 years at Chick-fil-A, 1 year as a library intern, 2 years as a Cracker Barrel waitress and shift leader, 4 months as a temp HVAC secretary). This has trained me in both patience and leadership. Further, I have done over 300 hours of volunteer work in the past four years, which has proved invaluable in approaching people with compassion.

Each student has a unique personality that can be specially used in their writing, whether this is more free-flow creative writing or structured essays. Lessons focus on developing individual abilities to be better than they are through patience and determination. This is achieved by first knowing what the goals of the parent and student are. From there, I work to help the student understand the importance of both goals. Lessons vary from student to student, but an average lesson will include grasping new words and sentence structures, understanding how paragraphs can be divided to achieve effective communication, seeing how personal experiences and interests can relate to writing…etc.
