About Justine
Hello all!
*£9.50 per 1,000 words* *48-hour turnaround window* *any subject or level*
My name is Justine and I am a professional policy maker and former award-winning PhD student living in west London. I offer expert and affordable proofreading services to clients from a range of academic backgrounds and levels of study from GCSE to Masters. I have over three years experience of private proofreading and essay-writing tuition with numerous satisfied customers proffering me a portfolio of positive feedback. I gained formal training as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) whilst working as a doctoral researcher at the University of Manchester in 2019. This has given me a full and rounded knowledge of the higher education marking system and essay, report and dissertation criteria as well as experience working with students and supporting them with their academic progression.
I charge minimum wage for my time which equates to £9.50 per 1,000 words. This is reduced if the client asks me to read a second draft of the same assignment and special offers for dissertations can be agreed on a case by case basis. I am very thorough and make both direct amendments to client text and additional constructive comments and suggestions. My proofing spans grammar and syntax to sentence structure and referencing and broader comments on flow, content, argument creation and general feedback on how to improve the piece of work.
A sample copy of a returned piece of work can be provided on request. I maintain open and regular communication with clients via email and am happy to discuss work over the phone, video chat or even in person e.g. a coffee shop. I can also offer bespoke essay-writing tuition upon request.
I have worked on essays, reports and dissertations in all academic fields spanning social sciences, life sciences, medicine, law, art and design and education. It is usually irrelevant that I have a background understanding of the subject matter. I have a background which includes a knowledge of statistics and data analysis and hence, I can assist with reports with technical and numerical content. However please note I will not check these values - only verbal content will be reviewed. I take students from any university. As my services are usually virtual, I can take clients anywhere in the UK or even abroad.
I dedicate my evenings and weekends to proofreading work and hence can offer a speedy 48-hour turnaround window (on essays up to 3,000 words). I am more than happy to answer any and all queries clients may have and can adapt my services to different budgets and time scales.
Background: I have achieved two top grade Masters degrees at two different Russell Group Universities. I graduated with a first class honours degree in Economics and Public Policy from the University of Glasgow in 2018 and obtained an MSc with Distinction in Planning and Urban Theory from the University of Manchester in 2019. I won prizes for best overall Grade Point Average in the department and best dissertation. I began work as a PhD student after handing in my Master's dissertation, having been recruited for a prestigious fully-funded project. I trained as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and worked solo and alongside lecturers taking seminars and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students in class. I have read countless essays in my time and have developed a good eye for assessing writing style and content. I thoroughly enjoy aiding students with their development and searching for the best solutions to achieve academic progression.
I now work professionally in the policy making field and so reading and writing statutory documents is something I do on a daily basis. For this reason, I believe I am excellently placed to support students with essay, report and dissertation writing.

I would be very happy to base my lessons around the needs of each individual student.
- The main service I am offering is proofreading. This would be less hands-on with the student and instead involve me reading over essays students have already produced and adding comments on spelling, grammar, syntax and sentence structure. I can also offer feedback on the essay flow, line of argument, evidencing and general critical commentary. This would normally be done remotely and sent back to the student via email. However, it may be more useful for me to meet the student in person and go over their essay with them and over real-time feedback and help with any questions as they arise.
- I also offer bespoke essay writing tuition. This would involve understanding first the student's own issues around essay-writing and reading over examples of their work. I will then guage tailored support for the student and construct a lesson series for them. My standard series includes 5 lessons but can be reduced or increased according to the student's wishes. In each I will tackle a certain issue I have identified in their essays and discuss these with the student. I will take exercise books with me which offer additional explanations of each point to the student and also set small tasks to complete each lesson to mark and discuss at the next lesson. The student can also raise any ongoing questions they have with myself at each lesson and discuss any upcoming assignments they have (although I cannot assist in the actual writing of these). Any complete assignments can be proofread.
