About Marion
I have been a tutor at University level for two years, in the School of Mathematics of the University of Edinburgh. I have tutored in many courses and to many students, from year 0 level (just before entering University) to postgraduate level. I also have one lecturing experience, at a summer school for high school graduates before they entered University.
I have had positive feedback from many students, who said that I helped them understand the topic better.
I have a positive attitude to teaching, and I like to encourage students to help them feel more confident and realise their full potential. I have good listening skills, which makes me an attentive and empathetic tutor who adapts to each student.

We can design a customised lesson format that suits your needs, depending on your level and what you need help with.
When tutoring, I always start by assessing the student's understanding by asking where they stand, what is clear for them and what is not. I then tailor my approach to their needs and help them clarify the parts that are challenging. I often use graphs and drawings to help with the intuition behind concepts, because I believe that understanding a concept intuitively is key to understanding it formally. I usually explain things as simply as possible, starting from wherever the student feels comfortable. I try as much as possible to lead the student to the solution rather than pointing them straight to it, so that they can improve their problem-solving skills and build a deep understanding of the topic.
I am patient and determined, and I adapt to the pace of each student, however slow or fast. I am happy to teach pupils and students from any level until second year of university.
Having a specialisation in optimisation, I am also happy to help with any modelling/optimisation courses at any level (postgraduate included).
