About Amy
I am a 26 year old student, currently based in Cambridge, studying for a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology. I have been tutoring with MyTutor for over 3 years, having also taught undergraduate students as a part of my Ph.D. I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Environmental Science from the University of York. One aspect I have loved about my degree is that it has necessitated knowledge in an array of subject areas - Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Geography to name a few! I completed my GCSEs in 2015 and my A Levels in 2017 and so have experience within successful subject revision, exam tips and tricks, and balancing this alongside applying to University (UCAS) - I would love to help and advise in all of these areas if needed. I primarily tutor KS3 and GCSE Science and A Level Environmental Science but also work with university students in Environment and Geography related subjects with guidance on essays and reports (including laboratory and statistical research projects / reports / essays / dissertations).

I think it is hugely important to build confidence alongside knowledge and so this is an area in which I am keen to help my students. During my studies, I found nothing to be more helpful than continually practising exam-style questions to build confidence in exam questions and iron out any kinks in particular topics. I find it to be helpful to quickly recap the previous lesson when tutoring to check that my students are absorbing and understanding the content that we cover together. I believe it is key to use positive reinforcements to engage students and promote higher level thinking. I would love to pass on what I found to be most useful to help students succeed in their academic career.
