About Gloria
I understand that many students seek tutoring because they feel overwhelmed by complex material, uncertain about assignments, or anxious about exams. My goal is to create a supportive and professional learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities. I believe that effective learning happens when students understand concepts deeply rather than simply memorizing information.
My tutoring sessions are tailored to each student's needs, learning style, and academic goals. Whether you need help preparing for an exam, improving your writing, understanding research methods, analyzing data in R, or completing a major research project, I will work with you step-by-step to develop the knowledge and skills needed for success.
Students appreciate my ability to explain difficult concepts in clear, approachable language while maintaining high academic standards. I am patient, organized, and committed to helping students become independent learners who can apply their skills long after our sessions have ended.

My teaching methods and techniques focus on building student confidence with material to promote further learning opportunities. By building confidence, students feel stronger to learn more information rather than rely on memorizing answers.
A typical lesson first identifies concepts of interest. After identifying these topics, we will work through a general introduction and work toward guided practice. A guided practice will introduce independent problem solving which later leads to independent practice. It will conclude with a review and any remaining questions.
As a subject matter expert, I genuinely enjoy the topics and believe patient, supportive instruction is key. I earned an advanced degree focusing on, doctoral-level research experience. Additionally, I have professional experience in public policy, government affairs, and research, allowing me to connect classroom concepts to real-world applications. Through my education and career, I hold strong quantitative and qualitative research background, including statistics, data analysis, and academic writing.
I have the ability to teach both content and learning strategies, helping students become more effective and independent learners.
