About Kris
In senior physics and maths, a few core ideas generate the rest — understand them, learn how to work with them, and the rest flows.
I'm Kris, a physicist and inventor, and I run Rowland Academy — online tutoring, one-on-one, anywhere in Australia. I have a PhD in Physics, specialising in optics and photonics, was a research fellow at the University of Adelaide for a few years, then spent a decade as CEO of Sensability, the sensor technology company I co-founded. The technology we built launched last year in partnership with Breville.
I work one-on-one with Year 11 and 12 students in Physics and senior Maths, across any state curriculum - SACE, VCE, HSC, QCE and the rest.

Sessions are one-on-one over video and shaped around what the student brings — a past paper, a concept that isn't landing, a derivation that needs unpacking. The aim is understanding that holds across topics, not just answers that work for the next test. First lesson is complimentary.

I've had a few sessions with Kris for year 12 physics. He's good at breaking down the parts I find confusing and doesn't make me feel stupid for asking. Sessions are relaxed but I always come away having learned something.
Kris is patient and explains things clearly. He has a strong background in physics and genuinely cares whether students understand the material, not just whether they get the right answer. Happy to recommend him.
