About Matt
I recently completed my PhD in biochemistry and am passionate about helping others understand the fascinating world of molecular biology. After spending the last seven years living and studying in Wales, I am delighted to be returning to Clevedon, where I grew up. Over the past four years, I have gained extensive teaching experience at university level, delivering lectures, leading laboratory classes and practical demonstrations, and providing one-to-one academic support. Many of my former students still reach out for advice, which I consider a good sign that I am doing something right!

I tutor biochemistry by breaking complex ideas into simple pieces. If you struggle with an approach I am flexible and able to adapt the explanation to suit your understanding. Lessons would consist of short lecture/explanation of a specific topic, followed by guided problem solving to help students build confidence and apply concepts independently. Lessons typically last 60–90 minutes and are tailored to each student’s pace and goals. With a strong academic background and experience supporting and training undergraduate, master's students, and even junior PhD students I teach learners preparing for exams, improving coursework performance, or those looking to build a foundation of understanding for all of the above.
