About Maria
I am an art historian with experience in Higher Education, having taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Glasgow in Western and East Asian art history.
My PhD on the collecting of East Asian objects in Europe gave me specialist expertise in object-based approaches and provenance research. I am particularly interested in how artworks and objects move between different systems of ownership and cultural contexts, and I bring this perspective directly into my teaching.
I provide supportive, tailored lessons that help students develop confidence in visual analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing. Whether you are preparing for exams, studying art history at university, or learning for personal interest, I adapt my teaching to your individual goals.

I take a student-centred approach, tailoring each lesson to the student’s level and goals. I focus on close visual and contextual analysis, often using an object-based method to engage directly with artworks and promote critical thinking.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and combine explanation, discussion, and practical support (such as essay writing or exam preparation).
I hold a PhD in Art History from the University of Glasgow, where I have taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, alongside experience in museums.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, school and university students, and anyone interested in Western and East Asian art history.
