About Callum
Hi! My name is Callum and I'm an experienced academic tutor to students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. I am a final-year PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, and have previously completed both Undergraduate and Masters degrees at Edinburgh too!
I specialise in helping students develop their study skills, which include essay writing, exam performance and critical thinking, amongst many others. In the last three years, I have worked one-to-one with over 150 students to improve their grades, efficiency and confidence at all levels of study!
Whether you're struggling with something right now or would just like to actively advance your academic skills, I'd love to hear from you!

Let's develop your academic and study skills together!
By developing personalised learning strategies, I help high-school, undergraduate and postgraduate university students improve their:
- Academic writing skills
- Exam performance
- Ability to think critically
- Reading and note-making effectiveness
- Editing and proofreading confidence
- And much more!
I believe in helping each student as an individual learner to achieve their individual goals using individualised strategies, so much so that I did a PhD on this approach to learning!
So, whether you want to really LEARN and become an expert on something that fascinates you, or simply PERFORM well in your not-so-interesting exams and assignments, I'll help you develop the best approach using research-informed guidance.
Depending on your needs, my lessons are between 60-120 minutes.
I am a registered Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, which provides recognition for educators providing demonstrably effective guidance.

Callum is really nice and helpful, he read my description before the session and showed full understanding of my situation.
Callum is one of the best tutors I’ve worked with. He’s really knowledgeable and tailored each sessions to my specific needs but also made learning enjoyable and effective. As an international student, I feel working with Callum has improved my understanding of the university system at the UK and boosted my confidence while approaching essays/exams. Also he’s really nice and dedicated which made each session really engaging.
