Usually, I would start with a starter activity to a lesson based on a relevant skill, for example, highest common factor of numbers before teaching factorisation of an expression.
First activity will be about doing simple examples of the lesson to demonstrate to the students e.g. factorising an expression. Then give them one or maybe two follow-up questions, which I will check their understanding with. I will then give them around 10-12 questions to practice with independently, with a few challenging questions after. Answers will be hidden from them until I signal time up for the activity, which students can use to check their own work.
I will give some AFL activities afterwards e.g. True/False, Spot the mistake, MCQs etc.
Typical lessons last 45-60 mins.
I do not have any tutoring experience, only teaching experience so far.
My lessons are for secondary to A Level students, but I can adapt to primary if necessary.
