About Xinyang
Hello, I’m Xinyang. I’m dedicated to helping students express their inner world through art and explore the infinite possibilities of creation. I completed my undergraduate studies in Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, and later pursued a Master’s degree in Anthropology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Through my academic journey, I have developed an understanding of how space, structure, and form function in art creation. I integrate this sensitivity to space and understanding of materials into my artistic practice and teaching. At the same time, my studies in anthropology have deepened my awareness of the interaction between society, human emotions, environment, and culture. I bring this inclusive perspective into my art teaching, focusing on understanding and expressing art from the perspectives of the body, environment, and psychology. Before embarking on my university studies, I also studied A-level Art & Design in the UK, where I achieved an A* grade. This experience gave me a solid foundation in both traditional and contemporary art techniques, as well as a deep understanding of the examination process. After three years working as an architect, I discovered a deep interest in art education and healing, and have since focused on this transition. My goal is to not only help students improve their artistic skills, but also guide them in expressing emotions and healing their inner selves through art. Currently, I run an art workshop in Shenzhen, China, where we combine nature and body-awareness exercises. The focus is on exploring and expressing the surrounding environment through art creation. I guide students in observing nature and using mixed media, helping them develop their observation and creativity. Additionally, I lead meditation sessions to help students relax and foster a stronger mind-body connection. My interest in art therapy led me to create the “Mindful Drawing Journal: A Guided Art Journey for 10 Days of Focus and Calm”, a manual designed to guide students through a 10-day journey of focusing and relaxing through drawing. This journal combines meditation and drawing techniques, helping students find inner calm and focus through the creative process.

My Approach: I offer personalised art lessons tailored to your unique needs and goals. Whether you’re a beginner eager to create a satisfying piece in a single session, an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, or someone interested in expressive art for emotional healing, I will design a custom plan to suit you. My lessons are designed not just to teach techniques, but to guide you on an artistic journey that is both creative and therapeutic. In addition to personalised lessons, I also offer tutoring for GCSE and A-level Art & Design, as well as portfolio guidance for students applying to art schools. Lesson Length & Structure: I teach students of all ages, and my lessons typically last between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours, but I can adjust the timing to fit your needs. Whether you want a quick, focused session or a longer, in-depth lesson, I will adapt the lesson length to your preferences. What You Can Learn: • Basic Drawing Techniques: Including watercolour, acrylic, and oil painting. • Mix-media Art Exploration: Experimenting with various materials to expand your creative practice. • Expressive Art: Expressing environment, space, and emotions through art, with therapeutic elements that foster healing. • Academic Art (A-level, GCSE): Drawing from my A* achievements in A-level Art & Design (Fine Art), I offer exam strategies and techniques. • Portfolio Guidance: I can help you prepare and refine your art or design portfolio, guiding you on creative concepts, composition, and presentation techniques. • Digital Design Tools: I teach industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino, and AutoCAD. Whether you’re new to art or an advanced student, I’m here to support your growth.
