About Mark
I've spent over 30 years working with technology. I started with 25 years in live event production before transitioning to software engineering 8 years ago. I've been a Mac user since the Apple IIe days, so I've seen technology evolve over the decades. In my work as a Technical Product Support Lead, I facilitated training sessions and continue to teach quarterly self-development workshops.
My background in live events taught me to stay calm under pressure, think on my feet, and communicate clearly. As a fitness group leader, I've learned how to motivate people, break down complex skills into manageable steps, and meet each person where they are. These skills translate perfectly to patient, effective tech coaching.
I specialize in helping adults gain genuine confidence with their devices, whether you're learning the basics or diving into advanced features. I believe that feeling behind on tech isn't a personal failing - it just means you haven't had the right teacher yet.

My teaching method and techniques:
I use a hands-on, goal-focused approach. We work directly on your actual devices so you're learning with the tools you'll use every day. I start by understanding what YOU want to accomplish - whether that's staying connected with family, managing your photos, or feeling safer online - then build lessons around those real-world goals.
I break down concepts into manageable steps and use plain language instead of tech jargon. My background as a fitness group leader taught me that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my pace and explanations to match your learning style.
A typical lesson plan:
First session: We discuss your goals and current comfort level. I assess what you already know and identify any pain points or frustrations you're experiencing.
Ongoing sessions: Each lesson focuses on one or two related skills with plenty of hands-on practice. For example, if we're covering email management, we'll actually organize your inbox together, set up folders, and practice identifying spam. You'll leave each session having accomplished something tangible.
After each session, I provide written summaries and step-by-step guides you can reference later.
