About Irene
Stiff fingers often make the first few weeks of guitar practice feel like an uphill battle. Imagine sitting down with your instrument and finally landing that transition between a G chord and a C chord with ease. I use my BA Music from McGill to break down music theory into manageable pieces for absolute beginners and adults. We explore soloing techniques and vocal accompaniment while maintaining a relaxed posture.
My 10 years of experience allow me to troubleshoot your strumming patterns before they become bad habits. You will find that our time together focuses on musicality rather than just rote memorization. We spend time on grade exam prep and improvisation so you feel prepared for any situation. I look forward to hearing what you want to learn next.

Strumming patterns, barre chords, and complex blues progressions are my primary tools for guitar instruction. I have taught 425 students over my 10 years of experience.
This number includes absolute beginners as well as teens looking to master music theory or grade exam prep. My teaching style remains playful while we tackle reading sheet music or improvisation. I keep things grounded in the protest song tradition, even when we work on power chords. Do you have a specific goal for your playing?
