About Melanie
My name is Melanie, I'm from the Philippines. I love meeting people from different parts of the world and I'm interested in learning about their culture, at the same time share the Filipino culture to them. I enjoy listening to what my students have to say using the English language. As much as possible I encourage them to practice a lot and to be confident in using English in their everyday life.

I normally prepare my lessons according to my students' age, level, and needs. When I teach vocabulary to kids, I usually incorporate games that they are familiar with. I make sure that they are comfortable with me through warm ups before starting any lesson. And usually end the class with check up pf what they have learned and of course, wrap ups. For older students getting to know each other is one of my ways to make them feel at ease in the class, I normally encourage them to talk a lot and not be afraid of making mistakes but I see to it that they learn the correct grammar usage.
My lessons typically last for 40 minutes to one hour. I'm a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I was a Preschool and elementary teacher at a Montessori School for 11 years. Then I became an onsite ESL tutor to Koreans and some Russians of different ages and levels for about 5 years. Currently, I'm a freelance online ESL tutor.
