About Zoe
I am a violin tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Chamber Music with a violin focus. My teaching combines practical skill-building with a strong foundation in music theory, aural skills, and sight-reading. I believe that understanding the language of music is as important as mastering the instrument. My lessons integrate scales, intervals, and harmony into practical bowing and fingering exercises. This approach helps students internalize musical concepts while developing technical precision. I work with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced performers. I have guided many music exam candidates, helping them perform confidently and achieve their goals. I also support students who wish to strengthen their overall musical fluency, whether for ensemble playing or solo performance. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual needs, pace, and goals. I emphasize a balanced development of technique, musical expression, and performance skills. My approach nurtures both skill and confidence. My aim is to help students become well-rounded, expressive, and confident violinists. I emphasize ensemble skills, helping students play confidently in groups while listening and adapting to others. Rhythm precision is a key focus, ensuring students can maintain steady timing and expressiveness in every piece. Creative improvisation is encouraged, allowing learners to explore their own musical ideas.
Classical repertoire development is integrated thoughtfully, building strong foundations in technique and interpretation. I also incorporate sight-reading, ear training, and music theory to strengthen overall musicianship.
For adult learners, I focus on building confidence and overcoming performance anxiety, supporting them to excel at their own pace. Students preparing for auditions or public performances receive tailored guidance to succeed.
