About Tim

An Imperial College London Graduate with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status from University College London, and professional Tutor for the past 5 years. I am an enthusiastic person who brings a very positive energy to learning Maths and Science with over 2000 hours experience. I specialise in being flexible in my teaching style in order to build confidence in the students I teach by adapting my teaching style to best suit their strengths and needs.

I'm also a very active person outside of academia, very interested in travel and exploration. Having participated in several expeditions to the Arctic and expeditions to discover new cave passages in a remote cave system in Slovenia, living out of a rucksack for up to six weeks at a time, I have gained skills and experiences which are relatively unique.

I spent the last year undertaking post-graduate teacher training at UCL to develop my tutoring further. During this time, I maintained a consistent level of individual tuition, so I am currently up to speed with the school learning environment, the ins and outs of the different school syllabuses and the current pedagogical theories of teaching and learning.

I will be only be available to tutor via Skype this year. However I have a computer set-up which allows me to conveniently interact using a tablet to show hand written notes in real time whilst also allowing me to provide useful colour coordinated notes at the end of each lesson. There is no need for a video feed from the students end, although a smart phone is useful to send photos of problems or workings.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will respond within 24 hours.

Please contact me before booking, as my availability does not always reflect my true availability due to high demand.

Perfect! Would definitely recommend Tim.
I found Tim at short notice a few months before my A levels. I was not feeling very confident on many aspects of the Further Maths course. He was calm, clear and adaptable to the many different questions I would send at him each session. Tim really helped me to attain my final grades in Maths!

Outcome : A* in Maths and Further Maths A level (100% in every FM module)

Perfect! Tim was a great find
My daughter was struggling with her A level maths. Tim has helped her gain confidence and feel much more positive about the course. She says he is really patient and positive. He has helped her view problem solving in a number of ways that her school teachers had not focussed on. We are hoping for a good result in the summer now she is back on track. I would highly recommend Tim and his approach to teaching msths.

Perfect! Excellent tutor, highly recommended
We turned to Tim for GCSE Maths tuition for my son who had lost confidence after several changes in teachers at school. Tim immediately helped him with the difficult topics and to enjoy the subject again. My son achieved a higher grade than had been predicted at school - and two grades higher than the mock GCSE exam that first prompted us to employ Tim. My son is now studying Maths at A Level, which is directly down to Tim's excellent and friendly tutoring at GCSE.
Subject : Maths
Outcome : Better GCSE grade than expected

Perfect! Terrific Tutor
Tim is a terrific tutor! He is friendly, bright and confident and has a natural ability to inspire his students. Our son had lost all confidence in his Maths abilities and with Tim’s patience and care he achieved a three grade raise in his Maths AS result. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Tim is a caring, friendly and enthusiastic person that helps you understand what you're stuck on. I'm delighted to have such a wonderful tutor and could not ask for anything better. He's made me feel a lot more comfortable with what I'm learning at school and also isn't intimidating nor patronizing like most teachers at school. I found doing A-level maths impossible until I met Tim; he made even the hardest of topics seem simple and doable. I would recommend him to anyone that needs help on maths.
Thanks Tim, you're awesome :)

Tim is simply amazing. My son has literally moved from a C/D at A level maths prediction to an A/ A* that he is expected to achieve this June. Tim understands that some students do not always find certain aspects of maths obvious but works hard to quickly identify their weakness and turn that into their strength. Whatever your child's ability, Tim knows the right approach. He is a brilliant mathematician himself studying physics at
Imperial College, London and is enthusiastic about the subject. He is very likeable; he is not your typical maths geek and I think that, this in particular, will make it easier for your son or daughter to connect with him. I really like how he works through the maths problems with you and
points out a way to get them right. He is both encouraging and engaging and helps your son and daughter build up confidence in maths. Tim has a lovely manner and is a good teacher for both boys and girls of all ages and all abilities. I can't thank Tim enough. I would recommend that you get him on board as soon as you can as the maths tutor for your child because he will get you the results that you need.
