About Sophie
I am a 3rd year student at the University of Cambridge studying physics and materials science. I received all 9s/A*s at iGCSE, and the highest grades (7s) in IB (which is an A-level equivalent) Higher Level Maths AA and Physics. I have tutored for 4+ years for students aged 11-18 and enjoyed watching my students gain confidence and have great success in their exams. I strive to be professional, patient and positive in every lesson.

I am focused on helping students gain confidence and intuition when dealing with daunting concepts - I aim to make science and maths make sense! In the complementary first lesson I discuss with my students their personal reason for tutoring, whether that be exam preparation, continued support alongside their school course or an additional challenge for their own interest.
I offer hour-long online lessons, where I work hard to arm students with proven techniques, a strong understanding of basics and a genuine interest in the subject. Where helpful, I also offer to make personal notes for students to aid their revision.
It's very important to me that my students enjoy the sessions, feel that they are valuable. All I ask from my students is a positive attitude, and an hour-long session weekly or fortnightly. My greatest joy is discussing exciting areas in science; ask me about the search for habitable planets, how you can measure the speed of light with a microwave or how the science you're learning is used in the real world!!
