About Albert
3 years ago in my year 10 mocks, I got a mixture of 5s, 6s and 7s. The following year, I achieved 11 grade 9s at GCSE, and three years later, A*A*A*AA* at A Level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and EPQ). I understand what it is like to struggle in class, to feel like you are falling behind, and to feel like you are not smart enough. I have been in the exact same positions as my students!
To undergo this academic transformation, I have learnt the best ways to improve not only in maths and science, but in school as a whole. Above all, I have learnt how to start loving learning. I am eager to share my knowledge and expertise with students, and have two years of teaching experience in Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry at GCSE level. Last year, I helped one of my students in particular to progress from foundation maths to higher. I took pride in inspiring him to learn as he grew to love mathematical problem solving, having previously hated maths.
Now, I am an incoming mechanical engineering undergraduate at Imperial College London, and scored 280/300 in A Level Edexcel Further Maths. I took further maths modules in Mechanics and Decisions, alongside Statistics and Mechanics for regular A Level. I also achieved 11 grade 9s at GCSE, and am currently teaching myself Further Mechanics 2 from Edexcel!
Alongside academic tuition, I have an array of other experiences in teaching and mentoring children and young adults - here is a little bit more about my teaching experience and background:
I have been teaching rock and pop drums to students over the last year. I hold a grade 8 distinction in rock and pop drumming, and have regularly performed as a session musician and as a part of professional bands for the last 6 years. I have a gold SSAT leadership qualification, for which I was a year long academic tutor and mentor for behaviourally and academically troubled children in years 7, 8 and 9. I have also spent a week in Thailand teaching English to local children as a part of a volunteering trip, opening my eyes to the transformative powers of education and nurturing an ability to communicate through understanding barriers. I have also taught artistic roller skating grades to children for many years, having placed 3rd at GB national championships for dance!
I am a passionate and aspiring engineer, with the goal of studying at Cambridge or Imperial College London. My experience in tutoring has spanned several years, and last year developed into the tutoring of GCSE students, where I helped to boost students from foundation to strong grades in higher tier maths and science. This was accompanied by mentoring behaviourally challenged pupils in year 7 and 8 through my school academic mentorship programme, helping them to feel more confident in school and in their end of topic knowledge tests. More recently I taught English for a week in Thailand as part of a volunteering trip, which allowed me to embrace teaching in a different environment, whilst opening my eyes to the transformative powers of education. This experience really allowed me to develop my tutoring skills for use back in the UK, by nurturing an ability to communicate through language and understanding barriers. I also hold a grade 8 distinction in drumming, having performed in internationally managed rock bands, have a gold SSAT leadership qualification, and hold an A* in my AS level EPQ on material science. I am a confident tutor, proficient in Maths Physics and Chemistry, and have a deep understanding of what it takes to excel in exam situations. I am excited to help my students grow in preparation for any exams they are pursuing!

In order to excel in exams, I firmly believe that students need not only depth of knowledge, but also strong skills in exam technique. My teaching focuses on building up critical thinking skills, subject understanding, and application in exam situations, in order to develop an understanding of marking criteria.
I will be heading to ICL for University in September, so will only be offering online lessons. I use Microsoft One Note so that students and I can share a common work space that updates live during lessons. I use an apple I Pad to work during lessons.
My lessons are inspired the by the Oxbridge 'Tutorial' teaching style, and I often begin lessons by posing a problem solving or knowledge recall question - relevant to the material covered in the lesson. This part of the lesson is often discussion based, and I will help to guide the student to develop their own answer. This is to both prepare the brain for learning, and build up resilience to questions not seen before.
I then focus on teaching the necessary textbook material, before moving on to applying the knowledge through past paper questions. I take extra care to explain the marking points to the student, so that it is clear how to gain marks in the exams.
My lessons are heavily tailored to the specific needs of my students and the time frames until exams. For some students with more robust subject understanding, mastering exam technique is critical, but for others, cultivating a passion for learning or stronger individual problem solving skills is more important.

As Albert's Dad, I can confirm he has a passion for maths, physics and chemistry, has an outstanding ability, and enjoys tutoring and passing on his knowledge. He received straight 9's at GCSEs including further maths and triple science, so you can be confident he knows what's needed to get great results.
Albert has helped me refresh my maths skills, explaining things clearly and concisely, and breaking down processes step by step to ensure maximum understanding. I would recommend him to anyone looking for maths tutoring, both for targeted exam help and for general learning aids.
I know Albert from school and he began tutoring me before my Year 10 mock exams in Chemistry, Physics and Maths. His tutoring brought me from struggling below grades to passes and strong passes, with my maths mark being the strongest in my set. I can only thank Albert for this help and I definitely recommend his tutoring and help to anyone and everyone who needs support.
Albert is a top student who always achieves the highest grades and is an amazing role model, he has a passion for teaching and is great at communicating ideas clearly.
