About Patrick
I am a passionate mathematics nerd, through and through. I enjoy the subject, but enjoy spreading my passion for mathematics even more! I've been teaching and tutoring for the last decade or so, starting while working on my PhD in mathematics. Upon completing and defending my dissertation, I started working in an independent school on the East Coast of the USA. I love the problem solving of mathematics, and solving the problem of how to best explain a concept or topic to someone is one of my favorite problems to work on. Mathematics is not a one size fits all thing, but I do believe everyone can find something they enjoy about the subject! Outside of teaching and learning mathematics, I enjoy traveling, reading, and running. I am an avid juggler and a stained glass hobbyist.

With 10+ years teaching and tutoring experience, I bring a personalized approach to tutoring mathematics. Learning is a collaborative process; I utilize a Socratic method to model thought processes that helps to lead to a deeper understanding. Mathematics is not a spectator sport, it requires practice and repetition, solidifying the procedural aspect to further the conceptual. I've tutored and taught at all levels of secondary and post-secondary courses, ranging from high school Geometry through college Linear Algebra and beyond.
