About Ella

Hi, I’m Ella! I love helping students feel confident and excited about learning. I have experience tutoring in my community, working with students to improve their reading, writing, and English skills. My lessons are relaxed, friendly, and tailored to each student’s needs, so we can tackle challenges together at a pace that works best. I’m here to make learning enjoyable, help students reach their goals, and celebrate every small success along the way. I’m currently a student at Queen’s University, where I’m developing my own academic skills while exploring my interests. Being a student myself gives me a unique perspective on the challenges students face, and I understand what it’s like to balance schoolwork, deadlines, and studying effectively, while also wanting to just be a kid! I use this experience to help kids in practical ways, sharing strategies that really work and helping them build confidence in their own abilities.

As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident and comfortable exploring new concepts and asking questions. My methodology combines structured guidance with creative exercises, adapting to each student’s learning styles and needs to ensure comprehension and retention. I use techniques such as guided reading, writing prompts, brainstorming sessions, and interactive discussions to make lessons both informative and enjoyable.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by targeted exercises tailored to the student’s current assignments or goals. We then work on practical application, such as essay writing, reading analysis, or creative projects, and conclude with a reflection or recap to review understanding and identify areas for improvement.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend academic rigour with creativity, helping students not only master skills but also develop confidence in expressing their ideas. I prioritize clear communication, patience, and individualized feedback to make learning meaningful and engaging.

My lessons are ideal for grades 1-6, particularly those looking to improve their reading comprehension, creative writing, essay writing, or general English skills. I tailor each session to the student’s level, goals, and interests to maximize progress and enjoyment.
