About Annabelle
I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2017 with a first class degree in Classics. I am currently studying for my Legal Practice Course at City Law School in London.
I have always been passionate about Classics and think there is no better way to explore that than by teaching it to others. At University, I had first year tutees both in Greek and Latin whom I met regularly to help with work and to go through exam papers. I believe this was a valuable experience both for myself and my students.
I also have experience teaching English at a Primary and pre-GCSE level.
I think it is important to foster a pupil’s interest in a subject in order for them to do well. With this in mind, I like to tailor my lessons around individual students, ensuring that it is a personal experience which they can enjoy as well as find useful.
I begin by finding out which particular areas a student is struggling in, and structure a series of lessons around this, allowing them to see the progress that they have made by setting up a target system.
I look forward to getting to know some keen classicists and hope we can have fun learning Latin!

Bella worked as a Gap Assistant in the Music Department at Twyford School 2013-14. She was a great help with administrative tasks, fetching pupils for their music lessons and helping with music rehearsals - particularly choirs.
She is well-read and has a good rapport with the pupils. To whom it may concern,
Annabelle (Bella) Woosnam is a first class degree graduate of our BA Classics programme at the University of Exeter. I have known her since September 2016, and taught her for several modules in the final year of her degree, including: Greek IV, Ancient Greek Novels, and Paradoxography, Fiction and the Culture of Wonder. Since most of these modules consisted of small seminar groups of 20 students or less, I came to know Bella very well.
Bella was one of the stars in our Classics cohort, a small group on a particularly challenging programme which required them to study Greek and Latin language and literature throughout their undergraduate degrees. She was extremely hard-working, diligent and professional in her approach to her academic work. She was unfailingly punctual and well-prepared for class, regularly contributing insightful comments in class discussions. Her academic profile throughout her final year was entirely in the upper second-first class range, and she graduated with an excellent first class degree. I would rate Bella's ability easily in the upper 15% of students. Her academic work combined rigour and attention to detail with independent research at a very high level. Her communication skills, both written and oral, are exemplary for their clarity. She worked very well independently and also in group situations (e.g. seminar group presentations). She is highly organised, efficient, and a consistently high achiever.View more recommendations
