About Emma
Hi there, my name is Emma and I’m a fourth-year medical student studying at Oxford University.
I received offers from all 4 medical schools I applied to in 2019 (Oxford, UCL, Exeter and Nottingham) and I am an experienced tutor here to help you with all stages of the application process for Medicine and related science degrees. From general Medicine application advice, Masters application support, Personal Statement reviews, aptitude test tutoring or Interview tutoring, I can help to boost the quality of your application.
I attained 7.4 in Section 1 of my BMAT exam (achieved by only the top 2% of candidates) setting me apart from other BMAT tutors and proving I know how to ace this notoriously difficult exam.

I offer extremely thorough Personal Statement feedback and guidance for how to embellish your application to medicine more generally. I spend 2 hours reviewing your statement at home and email you line-by-line annotated feedback and overall comments. Following this, students often like to make changes to their draft and send their new draft back to me to review a second time.
I can also supply a range of more advanced reading materials for us to discuss relevant to your interests and boost the quality of your application, and to improve your critical thinking for interviews. My students are free to message me at any point if they have any questions about their feedback.
I am experienced at interview tutoring to improve the quality of your answers, and your general interview skills. Each hour is split between question asking and precise advice and feedback. We will cover a range of standard, unique and challenging questions and I ask that my students email me their personal statement in advance and let me know their preference for either MMI, panel or Oxbridge interview style for the sessions. I produce a written document writing up everything we have discussed for the student to keep following each session.
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the students of Emma.
Perfect! Emma is a resourceful and responsible tutor who always delivers her lesson well. Her feedback is useful.
- It has been a pleasure to support this student. We have made great progress.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma has been an incredible guide throughout our application guidance session. As a medical student, her depth of knowledge and insight into the field is remarkable. She even went above and beyond by offering me invaluable ideas for my medical science dissertation, a gesture that, although not strictly part of the application guidance that I originally enquired about, reflects her exceptional dedication to supporting her students. Emma's kindness and willingness to help in any way she can really stand out. I am immensely grateful for her assistance and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any student seeking guidance in their application process or aspiring to study medicine. Emma's sessions are not just insightful and informative; she is genuinely caring and supportive.
- Salomè has been a highly receptive student with lots of ideas for her Masters application and her undergraduate research project, which I offered guidance for. I wish her the best with her future academic endeavours - I’m sure she will do very well.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma helped me write my personal statement for Graduate entry medicine this year. She was informative and left extremely helpful comments on the sides my drafts which allowed me to progress well and to ultimately be really happy with how my personal statement ended up.
- I have been working with Januli on improving the quality and clarity of their personal statement. They have a lot of interesting experiences to work with and emphasis has been on increasing the proportion of the statement addressing clinical reflections from their work experiences. I also offered lots of character-saving rephrasing suggestions to ensure they had enough room to discuss all the great experiences they wanted to discuss.Emma's response :
Perfect! I cannot recommend Emma highly enough - my son is having BMAT sessions with Emma and he is really progressing well. What I particularly like is Emma’s attention to detail, her planning and follow up - all extremely important in addition to the tutoring. It is always a little daunting choosing a tutor via an online platform but I can assure you Emma is fully worth her 5/5 rating from us.
- Matt’s son has an impressive aptitude to the BMAT exam and in our sessions we have focused on refining approaches to the most challenging question types. We’ve been particularly working on comprehension and 3D spatial reasoning style questions and it is clear that Matt’s son is quickly improving. I have faith that if he maintains this trajectory, Matt’s son will be set up for success in his BMAT exam. Best wishes, EmmaEmma's response :
Perfect! Emma is an excellent BMAT tutor. I engaged Emma to prep my son for his BMAT test. As soon as she agreed she provided some information that we could use to get started even before the lessons began. My son found the lessons to be very useful and Emma was able to quickly identify my son's strengths and weaknesses and help him to develop where he needed help. After the lessons Emma provided details of further resources tailored specifically for my son which he could use to work on his weaknesses. Emma is a very amenable, organised and professional tutor who really does push her student's to get the best out of themselves.
- Tutoring Ubaid at BMAT, it was clear he has a natural aptitude to the style of the exam, and he was very quick to link together difficult concepts. I was able to offer a new perspective on how to approach argument comprehension questions and spatial reasoning problems, which are notoriously challenging, for example, alongside other tips to add to his skill portfolio ahead of his exam.Emma's response :
Perfect! My daughter was trained by Emma for her bmat exam. They mainly focused on section 1 and 3. Emma has been very prompt, helpful, encouraging, patient and reassuring. or tasks. She explains everything elaborately and makes sure the student has understood. She has been very organised. She planned a schedule with my daughter to start with and was able to commit to everything she promised and even accommodated for extra requests when she could. As a parent, I got very satisfactory and detailed feedback from her about my child. She reviewed my daughter’s essays remotely as well as other bits of work and always replied to her in a timely manner.I think my daughter enjoyed having her as a tutor. Thank you for everything.
- Hana is a talented prospective medical applicant whom I tutor in BMAT. Her Personal Statement also displayed highly sophisticated reflections, and with some guidance to improve her fluency and ensure she has all the content needed, it is now a very advanced PS. She has a natural aptitude for BMAT, understanding many complex questions. We are currently focusing on improving her comprehension questions in Section 1 as these have appeared to be a slight weakness. Once I’ve helped her understand how to approach this Q type, I expect her S1 scores to become consistently increased, as this question type comes up multiple times per paper, and I hope it will become a source of valuable marks for her, especially since other candidates notoriously struggle with this Q type.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma helped me with my personal statement by making it more concise and organised. She made great comments which allowed me to transform the statement. Emma was also very quick at replying and helping with the statement. Many thanks, Emma!
- Yageen is a talented prospective medical student, with an impressive commitment to medicine, as seen by her multiple volunteering and work experiences. She had insightful reflections on this work, appearing wise beyond her years. I’m glad I was able to refine her statement successfully and I wish her all the best with her application.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma is very thorough and takes careful measures to help me grasp a concept I had forgotten. She made me think about how I would come up with the answer. She’s a good tutor that helped me so much!
- Rashida is a prospective Oxford Medicine applicant and very capable, whom I’m tutoring in some of the more challenging question types in Section 1 and 2, alongside remote feedback on some of her practice Section 3 essays. I believe we are making good progress in the run up to her BMAT exam mid-October and I wish her every success with her application.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma gave me a very thorough review of my personal statement. It was clear that she had really invested her time into it and I am thankful for her wonderful advice.
- Eren is a prospective Oxford applicant and her highly intellectual personal statement effectively portrayed her passion for science, and highlighted areas in which she had developed expertise having read beyond the syllabus. I was able to offer new pieces of reading and rephrasing options to improve eloquence, improving the clarity of the statement and allowing further high-quality experiences to be included. I wish her the best of luck with her application.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma gave an excellent and detailed review of my personal statement. Would definitely recommend!
- KA is applying to Medicine at Oxford and has an eloquent personal statement with an impressive range of achievements and beyond-the-syllabus reading. I cleared up a few areas which I thought risked being misinterpreted and helped make the statement more concise to allow KA to add a few more reflections. My more general comments will help KA ensure the statement is closely aligned with Oxford’s expectations and not missing a couple of important elements. It was refreshing to read the statement of someone so academically curious!Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma is an amazing and patient tutor. She has helped my daughter so much with her personal statement and is extremely efficient and timely. Her input and suggestions have been invaluable. I would definitely recommend Emma, she is so knowledgeable.
- Sam’s daughter’s personal statement showed great potential from the beginning, with lots of relevant experiences and interesting reflections to include that are great for Medicine applications. I’m glad I was able to bring the most out of her and help her statement reach an impressively high standard.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma's review of my personal statement was absolutely brilliant, offering great suggestions and ideas that not only helped enhance the fluency of my writing, but also reduce my word count to include additional achievements that made my PS more competitive. Highly recommended!
- Mackenzie aspires to study Dentistry at university and their draft personal statement contained many impressive achievements. I’m glad I was able to offer lots of constructive feedback about the content of the statement and where can improved and where can be rephrased to save characters.Emma's response :
Perfect! Emma’s personal statement reviews are incredible. Highly detailed, she not only offers rephrasing options to increase eloquence and save characters but has many helpful ideas for what could be added or omitted to increase clarity and reflection and she clearly understands what different medical schools look for in a PS and is able to tailor her feedback accordingly 10/10
- Great writing style and clearly a lot of experience to include. We rephrased quite a lot to increase clarity and to free up words and adjusted the tone to make sure the statement was ‘reflective’ as opposed to just stating the facts! Well done Robin!Emma's response :

I highly recommend Emma! She gives great advice and help on medicine application and knows how to make urs more competitive! She’s very knowledgeable and loves to help people always :)
Emma gave me two Oxbridge-style mock interviews that were challenging but felt like a conversation where I was pushed to think broadly about extensions of topics that were new to me. I found Emma constructive and the interviews quite enjoyable as an academic exercise!
