About Maria
I have an MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS and an MPhil in Classical Indian Religion from Oxford, where I am currently a doctoral researcher working with original Sanskrit manuscripts. My background is unusual: I came to Sanskrit from computer science and product design, so I know how to explain complex systems clearly. I also practise Ashtanga yoga and have done fieldwork in India. I teach because good Sanskrit tutors in the UK are almost impossible to find, and there is real demand for serious, structured instruction.

I teach Sanskrit from scratch: script, sounds, grammar, sandhi. No fluff, no textbook filler. You will be reading real classical sentences within weeks. Lessons are one hour, online, tailored to your level and pace. I treat grammar as a practical tool for reading, not an end in itself.
Open to all adults, from complete beginners to yoga practitioners who want to stop guessing what the original texts actually say.
