About Jamie
I have a PhD in Astrophysics from Oxford and a Masters in Physics from King's College London (1st in class).
I've taught at a variety of levels, from a 3rd year Subatomic Physics course at Exeter College, Oxford, to a general astronomy and maths course for people of various backgrounds in Namibia.
I've also conducted Oxford entrance interviews for Physics.

Problem-solving focussed, individually tailored tutoring in maths and physics.
Encouraging independent thought in a light and friendly environment. No rote learning here!
I try to link topics to everyday concepts, and generally encourage curiosity in how these subjects relate to the actual world.
Targeting fundamentals and grounding improvements in understanding, as opposed to just memory, through practise questions, discussion, and interactive exercises (e.g. having you teach a topic back to me). We'll concentrate on any areas you're struggling with and any areas I identify as weaker than the others as we go along.
No topic is too basic, and there are no stupid questions (or answers!).
I try to keep everyone just on the fun side of challenged, whether it's finding just the right way of getting the absolute basics to sink in, or extending practise questions to more advanced real-world applications.
We'll discuss and develop general problem solving skills at the same time as subject knowledge, building confidence to tackle more and more complex problems on your own.
