About Alex
Maths is my passion; I'm keen to share my passion and inspire confidence in people. I achieved an 8.9 GCSE average and 4A*s in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry (+ a distinction in the maths AEA), which helped me go on to study maths at Oxford. I also enjoy competitions, from achieving a medal in the JMO when I was 13 up to getting full marks in the senior maths challenge and qualifying for BMO2 (one of 100 people to do so). When not doing maths, I like to play the flute in orchestra, run, cycle and go to the gym.

Flexible tutoring - I will tutor any age, any ability; online lessons, at home, libraries etc (I'll happily cycle anywhere in Southampton or nearby.) The length of a lesson is up to you, as is the content. Last year I helped one of my tutees climb from an E in maths to a high B. I've also attended 4 maths summer schools in various roles as student and staff member, so I'm experienced at teaching maths at all different levels.

Alex is a great A level maths tutor. His ability at the fundamentals along with his breadth of knowledge in the subject makes him the ideal teacher. He takes you through problems carefully until you have a solid understanding. Cannot recommend him enough!
Alex is an extremely capable mathematician, competing in the highest level of national math competitions and olympiads. He transfers his skills over to excellent tutoring, and clearly communicates complex ideas.
