About Jacob
Hi, I'm Jacob. I am an aspiring commercial solicitor returning to the UK after two years of legal aid work and travelling in Africa and Australia. I am amiable and worldly, having tutored students of varying ability since I was 16 years old. I have seven years of one-on-one tutoring experience, including two years of admissions tutoring. I have helped secure multiple Oxford Law admissions. Personal highlights of my tutoring career include achieving a pass grade in English and Maths for a student who had been predicted to fail both subjects for over two years, and providing sole face-to-face teaching contact for a student who felt they could not attend school. Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, mountain biking, wild camping, MMA and writing film and book reviews. I have experience explaining entry-level legal questions in multiple cultural contexts and across age groups.
Full extended DBS. 10x Grade Nine GCSE, 33 LNAT. Graduated St. Hugh's College, Oxford in 2024.

Oxbridge law applications are daunting. I experienced applying with very little support from school. I know how crucial small pieces of contextual information can be for an applicant with none of the background information available to better resourced candidates. The intervention I find to have the highest return is simple: freeform conversation, broadly structured around law interview and LNAT topics. For one hour at a time, I help students find their feet in a situation that would normally be intimidating—open-ended questions posed by a subject specialist. These sessions will morph at your own pace into full-length mock interviews and aptitude tests. If you are considering applying to Oxbridge, you probably already have the brainpower. The unique feature of the Oxbridge process is that there is only one way to convert this brainpower into an offer: conversation. Reliably demonstrating your verbal fluency and critical engagement in an interview setting doesn't come to everyone naturally. I offer friendly and robust practice.

Jacob gave great mock interviews. He was insightful and encouraging. I felt much more comfortable discussing ideas fluently after our sessions. It really helped in my interviews!
