About Ariana

Hello! I am a recent Oxford graduate in Classics and am passionate about motivating and supporting students to achieve their academic goals.

ENGLISH
I have experience teaching English to native and international students aged 5–16, helping them build a strong understanding of the English language and preparing them for GCSE exams. I tailor materials to suit both age and ability, ensuring that younger students are appropriately challenged without feeling infantilised. My approach focuses on building their confidence while fostering academic growth, by making sure that the tutorial is a warm and positive space.

HISTORY  During A Levels, my History essays and revision material were requested by the teachers for the class to use due to their quality. Thus, this experience has given me confidence in my ability to create high-quality materials and deliver lessons that genuinely support student learning. While in sixth form, I formed my own History tutoring class for GCSE students, where I helped with essay writing, understanding the material and analysis skills.

CLASSICAL CIVILISATIONS
Having studied Classics at the University of Oxford I have a very wide range of knowledge regarding the history, archaeology and literature of the Classical World, ranging from 500 BC till AD 337, from Britain to North Africa and across the Middle East. I have covered specific subjects in the GCSE and A Level classical civilisation curriculum in depth across archaeology, literature and history such as: - Myth and Religion of the Greek and Roman World - Women in the Ancient World - The Homeric World - Imperial Image - Greek Vases - War and Warfare - Greek and Roman Temples - Funerary Beliefs - Greek and Roman Theatre - Politics of the Late Republic - The works of Ovid, Plutarch, Livy, Virgil, Homer, Cicero, Catullus, Tacitus, Euripides, Sallust, Aristophanes, Petronius, Juvenal, Augustus, Propertius, Aeschylus I am certain that through my knowledge and skills regarding exam technique and essays, I will help the student become more confident regarding how to answer questions for the Classical world and tackle the intricacies and depth of the Greek and Roman World!

 OXBRIDGE ADMISSIONS AND PERSONAL STATEMENTS
At university, I continued to support and promote higher education by working as a Student Ambassador; giving presentations regarding Oxbridge Applications, essay writing skills and performing and assessing Mock Interviews. This experience along with the admissions information we university ambassadors were given, means I am confident I could help students with their Oxbridge Applications. Plus, since I had 6 interviews across 3 colleges for my Oxford application, I am confident I understand the structure of humanity interviews!

As everyone learns differently, each lesson will be adapted to suit the individual student's needs and maximise both learning and value. I believe it's always best to start with the basics and build from there, as a solid foundation leads to stronger outcomes.

I have experience working with students of varying abilities and ages for 5 years, so I am confident in my expertise to support each one; whether they need more time to solidify the fundamentals or are ready to advance to more challenging topics.

Typical Lesson Structure: While every lesson is tailored to the student, a typical session may include: 5-minute recap of the previous lesson to check understanding and identify areas that may need further review. Introduction to the new topic. Identifying strengths and targeting knowledge gaps. 5-minute open discussion where the student can raise any questions regarding the lesson and what they would like to focus on next.

Materials and Resources: I can provide a range of resources for both lessons and optional homework, including: Essay structures and examples Flashcards Mind maps Timelines Revision summaries All materials are created by myself and are not AI-generated!

Lesson Length: I am flexible with the duration of the lesson. Some students prefer 1 hour sessions, while others find 1.5 to 2 hours more productive.
