About Zahra
I am a home tutor based in Ilford for Primary and Secondary School - Year 5 up to Year 13. Maths, English and Science. 7 years experience. DBS checked. Currently studying postgraduate law at university. Also available for online tutoring.
Experience:
I have been tutoring for approximately 7 years now. I have tutored a wide variety of ages and children, particularly I have experience with KS2 SATs preparation for Year 5 & 6 children, and GCSE teaching and technique for Year 9-11, as well as teaching foundation knowledge and consolidating school topics covered in Year 7 and 8. As I have studied English Literature, Maths and Further Maths at A-Level, I am well-placed to teach maths and english sessions. I also have experience teaching GCSE Science sessions and achieved A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level myself.

My approach in maths lessons is to first assess your child with a past paper and discussion of selected question in order to identify areas of improvement. Then we work through those topics together by doing examples together on the board, I give steps to work through maths questions, and then lots of practice and exercises.
My approach in english lessons is focused on building analysis skills and improving your child’s ability to write good answers. We work through the different types of questions that come up in English Language and Literature papers and I provide a specific technique to guide your child. Then lots of practise and reviewing/ editing work with feedback on homework.
My usual strategy for Science is to identify some topics that are weaker, summarise key concepts and areas, encourage your child to do notes for homework, and then spend lesson time working through exam questions together with technique.
