About River
I am a current 4th year Engineering Student at University and have fresh topic knowledge from GCSEs and A Levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. As a student myself I know what works and what doesn't. I have competent grades in my subjects at GCSE and achieved high grades at A level, and can provide down-to-earth and useful 1:1 sessions.

I believe focusing on the tougher areas of a course can really help push grades up, and encourage students to take a hands-on approach. Mistakes don't matter, they really do help to improve more, and I will give back to you as much as you put in. Building an important foundation to improve on is essential, as is having confidence. I prefer to treat students as equals, as opposed to the teacher-pupil hierarchy relationship you tend to find at school, as this can be damaging as lessons become dull. Lesson structure will completely depend on the student, e.g. a student who wants to boost up to a grade 8 or 9 would likely spend more time with me going over complex questions, and the finer details of challenging concepts and equations, whereas a student who was more concerned with securing a passing grade may need more time spent cementing foundations to enable them to gain marks across a broader range of questions.

Perfect! River has been an amazing maths tutor and I highly recommend him. My daughter went from a predicted GCSE grade 3 to gaining a Grade 6 in her final exams which was brilliant. River is very patient, gets to know the knowledge gaps and builds from there. He also recaps previous lessons to make sure the knowledge is embedded. He is friendly, professional and made the lessons enjoyable.
