About Sooyoung
I am a professional oboist and English horn player currently performing with the Toledo Symphony, originally from South Korea. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Seoul National University and a Master's degree from the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles. Throughout my career, I have won numerous competitions in both Korea and the US. I was also a Fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami, where I enriched my professional orchestral experience before joining Toledo Symphony.

As an active professional Oboe and English Horn player, my lessons are tailored to meet the unique goals of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Drawing from my extensive experience with multiple auditions and competitions.
My teaching approach focuses on building a solid technical foundation, refining musicality, as well as reed-making. Whether you are learning for fun or preparing for a professional career, I provide highly personalized mentorship.
Lessons can be fully conducted in both English and Korean.
Currently splitting my time between Toledo, OH, and the DMV area, I am thrilled to offer both in-person and online lessons in both regions.
