About Journey
Hi! My name is Journey Myricks, and I am a New York State certified K–6 teacher with several years of classroom experience supporting students in reading, writing, and English Language Arts.
I currently teach 5th grade ELA and also serve as a grade team leader. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Music and Music Arts Management from SUNY Plattsburgh.
My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence. I specialize in reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, close reading, text evidence, main idea, inference, and test preparation.
I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to the learner’s individual needs, strengths, and academic goals. Whether your child needs extra support, help catching up, or an additional challenge, I am committed to helping them grow into a stronger and more confident reader and writer.
I strive to make each tutoring session engaging, structured, and meaningful while giving students the tools they need to succeed independently in the classroom.
