About Inana
I have been reading and writing practically since I was born. I grew up with bookshelves crammed with books, and notebooks filled with stories. This has meant that I was one of the highest-performing students in my entire year group. I have had poetry and short stories published in several anthologies, and have written 3 novels to date, totalling over 200,000 words. I am currently working on my third, as my dream is to be traditionally published one day. All of that being said, my love for reading and writing means you will gain a tutor who never tires of teaching English, and one who is truly passionate about sharing her passion.

English is an interesting subject, but it can be complicated. Teaching quality vastly fluctuates across schools, and sometimes students can feel daunted with the sheer scope of the subject. That is why I prioritise familiarising them with techniques and structures that can strip English to what it really is - interpretation and communication.
I begin each lesson with a review of the previous lesson and time for questions, followed by an interactive explanation of the chosen topic. After this, I help the student complete a practical activity, often involving interpreting an unseen quote/text or writing part of an essay. I end the lesson with a homework task, usually a timed essay, and feedback and encouragement, which I believe is very important.
As a Year 11 student who has just finished her GCSEs, I am familiar with the demands of the English syllabus, particularly within my GCSE Literature texts - the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Animal Farm, Macbeth, and Power and Conflict Poetry. I understand the challenge English poses to young people better than most, and due to my love for the subject, know how to engage them. I also have a treasure trove of notes from my own GCSE revision, all of which are available for the student to use and confirmed Grade 9 quality by my own teachers.
I am patient and clear in my explanations to primary school students, making sure they are understanding rather than just memorising.
I have experience tutoring classmates and friends who struggle with English. I helped one of my friends go from Grade 5 to Grade 9 quality schoolwork in English Language with these same methods. I am also able to give advice on the most effective revision techniques, due to me having done 11 GCSEs requiring exceptional time management.
Lesson lengths are highly personalised for the student, ranging anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours.
