About Sophie
Hi there!
I’m 22, a new Biology graduate from Newcastle university and love all things biology! I like to think I’m extremely friendly and approachable, and spent a lot of my gap year working with A2 biology tutors so know what it’s all about and how best to work with the syllabus to get you your highest grade.
I retook my Biology A-level during my gap year to get the highest grade possible and achieved an A*, so am therefore extremely familiar with the A-level content and format, perhaps more so than other graduates who took a gap year. I find it extremely important to study mark schemes and the syllabus in detail and tailor tutor sessions around studying past exam questions as so many of the boards have very specific styles of questions and answers that are required. Particularly now that the AS stage has been removed, honing in on exactly what the board require saves you both time and brain space (you aren’t learning countless facts from a textbook that the board don’t actually require you to know)! However, fact learning is also extremely important and I will make sure to cover everything on the syllabus and to test you on key pathways, mechanisms, processes and key knowledge as we go along.
