About Diogo
I have worked as a professional actor, writer and producer for over a decade. I hold a MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School, and am one of the proud Co-Artistic Directors of Saudade Theatre, the first and only theatre company in the United States dedicated to producing original and thought-provoking work grounded in our Portuguese-American consciousness. I am also an original member of the Actors Theatre of New York and a member of the LAByrinth Theatre Intensive Ensemble 2014. In my over 12 years of professional experience, I have had the privilege of working with some of the greatest teachers in the industry. I have extensive knowledge of multiple techniques and believe that each actor borrows from what works in order to develop their own unique method of working. I don't believe any one school of thought is superior to the other - if it works for you and the director is happy, then that's all I care about! From the moment I began to study this craft roughly 17 years ago, I have been actively developing a process to help me be the most relaxed and spontaneous actor I can possibly be. Your process is personal, but I believe the best acting is seamless and unpredictable. In my class, I will help you find your process and achieve the greatest spontaneity in your work: be that on a self tape audition, monologue or a scene.
