I find that the best way to attack math and science problems are to repeatedly practice problems similar to ones given in class. I will walk through each problem, step by step, with the students until the topics and problems become natural to solve. It is important to me to apply the material to real world applications, which makes the subject more interesting and relatable.
With Spanish, my approach is to practice new material as much as possible, by speaking and writing. I also find it very useful to compare and contrast words or sentence structures in Spanish to cognates in English.
For all areas, I have some mnemonic devices and other tricks to help remember how to work problems. However, I emphasize learning and knowing the material instead of just memorizing it.
