About Amy
I am a 3rd year Natural Sciences student at Cambridge University, having achieved a high 1st in both first and second year and being awarded the Rolls Royce/Armourers & Brasiers' Prize 2022 as well as College Scholarships. I ranked 2nd in Materials and top 20 in Chemistry in my cohort. In summer 2023, I completed a placement project at the Max-Planck-Institut fur Eisenforschung researching core-shell nanoparticles. I achieved top grades in my A levels at Hills Road Sixth Form College, and was invited to the British Physics Olympiad training and selection camp for the international team.
I have several years of experience giving private lessons, in a variety of forms including teaching new content, homework help, and entrance exam/interview preparation. I also took part in the peer mentoring scheme at my college and worked at a summer school at Cambridge University as a teaching assistant on a science/English course. Thanks to my tuition, my students have moved into a higher maths set and passed the entrance exams they needed, as well as clearly gaining confidence.

I am an experienced, enthusiastic, and patient tutor providing lessons up to A level in maths, physics, and chemistry, including for 11+, 13+ and University entrance examinations and interviews.
Being able to apply knowledge to solve problems is a crucial part of maths and science - I provide a range of exercises and questions for us to work through together, explaining as we go along and then encouraging you to complete them with more and more independence. This develops technique and understanding as well as knowledge. I am also flexible and will adjust to suit the unique needs of each student. If the preparation is for a specific exam, I strongly believe in the use of past papers and markschemes, which will be closely analysed and followed in order to maximise marks and improve exam technique.
I am very familiar with the Oxbridge exam and interview process and format and have conducted many mock interviews for students, teaching exam/interview technique, explaining common questions and encouraging students to think outside the box.
